Flower Shows, School Holidays and World Chocolate Day 0

Posted in Nightlife

This week, schools begin to break up for the luxuriously long summer holiday stretch til September and offices are emptying. It can be difficult to come up with fun ideas to keep everyone entertained over the summer break so here’s a few of our favourites:

RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show

The world’s biggest annual flower show takes place from the 5th – 10th July and it’s the perfect outing for a summer’s day. Whether you’re green-fingered or simply take pleasure

in strolling through beautiful gardens of colourful blooms, Hampton Court Palace is a venue well worth heading to. Overlooking the River Thames close to the wealthy borough of Richmond Upon Thames, you can find your way to the palace by boat, train, bus, car or bike. Discover the Butterfly Dome, take inspiration from the show gardens, try out the tempting cafes and go along to a talk or two by some prominent gardening experts.

World Chocolate Day

For the chocolate fiends out there, there’s no need to practise self-control, today of all days. It’s the 7th July which means it’s World Chocolate Day! We started celebrating early but for those who’ve yet to release their inner chocaholic, we have a couple of ideas up our sleeves. Pop along to the beautiful Pierre Marcolini, world-class ‘haute chocolatier’, on Marylebone High Street, heaven for chocolate lovers. The Godiva Chocolate Café in Harrods is another favourite, with tasty treats such as chocolate crepes and ‘Hot Chocolixir’, a warm chocolate ganache with hot, frothy milk. Did you know that chocolate is a source of antioxidants and can help lower blood pressure? As if you needed an excuse…
