The BFI London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival has a new name for 2014, BFI Flare: London LGBT Film Festival, and we’ve got to say, we like the new name!

Running from the 20th to the 30th March 2014, the festival, now in it’s 28th year, includes 3 Gala films, over 50 films from 20 countries groups around 3 central themes and a selection of special events.

The Closing Night Gala – 52 Tuesdays

52 Tuesdays - BFI Flare Closing Gala

On the back of winning a Best Director Award at Sundance and a Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival, 52 Tuesdays is being pitched as the ‘breakout indie film of the year’. Literally shot on 52 consecutive Tuesdays over the course of a year, the cast were only given their scripts one week at a time and only for the scenes they were in, making the performances uniquely authentic. This Australian film tells the story of the relationship between a teenager transitioning in to adulthood and her mother transitioning from female to male and their changing relationship.
