Samantha Cameron’s favourite artist Ben Eine led the line up of fine artists selected to have their work adorned on Team GB Olympic sails last month at The May Fair. Eine shot to fame after Prime Minister David Cameron gave one of his works to President Obama on his first official State visit. Eine has chosen his work “See No Evil” to be hoisted up an Olympic Sail.

The ‘Fine Art Sails’ raised money for the Royal Yacht Association’s “Sail for Gold” fund, the RYA’s Sailability Trust, and the Royal National Lifeboat Institution.

CNM Estates and Michael Ross are sponsoring the initiative. Michael Ross says: “This is an incredibly exciting initiative. It’s the first time the world of fine art has met the yachting world. The results are incredible.”

After the VIP signing at The May Fair Hotel in September, the fine art sails continued on their global voyage to Art Basel in Miami.

Anthony Lee, General Manager of The May Fair Hotel London said: “We are very excited to be part of this innovative and creative initiative. London has a wealth of Culture and Art to offer visitors and residents alike can see this initiative just reconfirms how London leads the world in what it has to offer. the senses. Art on Sails embodies all of this and ties in with the spirit of sport in a way that has never been done before. The May Fair is delighted to be part of it.”

The sails with fine art were used by Olympics Silver Medal winners Iain Percy and Andrew (Bart) Simpson as part of their training for the Games in Weymouth. They carry the identification number “8371” which is the number used by the sailors at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and their World Title winning races at the Championships in Rio. In addition, the Gold star on the sail indicates that it is from a World Championship winning team.
