Halloween recipes: Toffee apple canapes 0

Posted in Food & drink, Parties and Events

This week we’re in the kitchen with Pastry Chef Rana Shahid Maqbool as he shares with us his toffee apple recipe – perfect for halloween treats. With the apple season upon us, it’s the perfect time to try out some of the 120 varieties in the U.K. This recipe uses mini apples, however you can use any type of apple – try apple wedges or different shapes if the whole apple is quite big in size.

This recipe will make around 20 mini apples

Ingredients

250g caster sugar
50g liquid glucose
100g water
20 mini apples
20 Lollipop sticks or skewers
Baking paper

Method

1. Bring the sugar, glucose and water to a soft boil of 155 C (use a sugar thermometer to check as you go along). The mixture should be a beautiful light brown caramel colour (too dark and it’s burnt).

3. Dip the apple lollies into the boiling sugar mix and leave to cool on some baking paper.

4. Once the sugar has hardened, the toffee apples are ready to eat. Yummy!
