Ok, so when we were invited to see Legally

Blonde The Musical by our friends at the Savoy Theatre I can’t say I was giddy with excitement. The film was fun, but a musical? We were sceptical. But, having seen numerous rave reviews I thought I should give it a go.

Five minutes into the opening scene and I still wasn’t sure. The first song “Oh My God You Guys” was enhanced with pink outfits, big smiles and lots of girly giggles. Sickly sweet and perhaps a little too cutesy for me.

Twenty minutes later and I’m starting to hum along to the chorus songs, and Shreridan Smith’s lead character Elle Woods has gone from annoying to endearing. She plays the role perfectly with enough humour to keep even the biggest cynics entertained, and eager to see the second half.

It turns out the reviews were right, there’s something about Legally Blonde which makes it utterly compelling. The hilarious characters, catchy songs and perfect comedy timing make it one of the best musicals I’ve seen in London theatre. Not to mention the adorably puppy that struts on and off stage on cue. In fact we loved it so much we even decided to do this blog post in pink!
